Understanding WIRED

When we launched ‘WIRED Vol. 1’ in 2024, it was more than just a compilation—it was a statement. A statement about the power of emerging talent, the global influence of the underground UK sound, and the importance of community. Now, with ‘WIRED Vol. 2’, we’re doubling down on that vision. We thought we’d take you through its history, intention, and future…

At its core, ‘WIRED’ is a platform. It’s a project where emerging artists from around the world can shine, regardless of where they’re from or how long they’ve been making music. We see the artists featured in this series as the ones to watch—talented, innovative, and boundary-pushing.

Why Does WIRED Exist?

When we started Transistor, our goal was to promote emerging talent locally through events. But with the launch of our label in 2023, we saw an opportunity to take this mission to a global scale. ‘WIRED Vol. 1’, released at the start of 2024, was our first full release and a chance to platform this growing wave of talent. To celebrate the launch of ‘WIRED Vol. 1’, we hosted a sold-out event at Nottingham’s Secret Garden, with a line-up curated from the artists participating in the VA. It was a night that embodied the community-driven spirit of the project, bringing together artists and fans in a shared celebration of music.

What Is The Deluxe Version?

This was followed by the Deluxe Edition, which allowed all artists a chance to rework their track from the original VA into different genres and styles, resulting in 10 VIP tracks total.

As ’WIRED Vol. 1 Deluxe’ provided another opportunity for those artists to expand their discography, it also allowed them to explore other influential genres they had not yet released to the public.

The Global Influence Of Our Scene

Around the same time, the UK influence in Australia, New Zealand, & the rest of Europe really flourished, while the genres we’ve always loved continued to evolve. We noticed how UK electronic music was influencing artists globally, inspiring us to continue the series that not only showcased their take on the UK sound but also allowed the interconnection of all artists audiences worldwide.

Volume 2 & The Future

With ‘WIRED Vol. 2’, we’ve refined the project to 9 handpicked tracks, reducing the number from 17 tracks to focus on quality, curating a compilation that truly represents the rise in global talent. This volume feels like a natural progression, both for us as a label and for the artists involved.

But Wired isn’t just about the music. It’s about fostering a community. We want to show that no matter where you’re from or what your level of experience is, if your passion for the art of music is reflected in your work, it deserves to be heard. This series is a celebration of that belief, and we’re proud to be a part of this growing movement.

Conclusion

So, what is WIRED? It’s a celebration of emerging talent, a connection between global audiences, and a testament to the power of community; and most importantly, it’s a reminder that great music can come from anyone, anywhere…

Words From The Artists

Now that you know a bit more about WIRED and its values, it's time to briefly hear from some of the artists involved about their experience with Transistor, WIRED, and words to other emerging artists.

Ziggy Ostas - @ziggy_ostas

How did you first make contact with Transistor and what made you decide to release your music with us?

”I first made contact with Transistor when I came across the label on SoundCloud whilst looking for tracks for my sets. The page had some really incredible talent, and the whole thing looked so professional, so I wanted to be a part of it. I reached out over email, and the guys were on board with the idea; the rest is history.”

ance. - @ance.music.uk

Tell us about your track on WIRED Vol.2…

“Flashing Highs is a bit more experimental and left-field compared to my usual stuff and has some 140 influences thrown in there. I definitely didn’t sit down with the intention of making something like that; it ended up taking a very different direction, but that’s the way it goes sometimes. I just ran with it and ended up really happy with how it turned out”

Clifford - @fkaclifford

How do you hope being part of Wired and Transistor will help you grow or reach new audiences?

“I think more than anything, Wired and Transistor have opened my eyes to all new sounds, and I am incredibly grateful to be able to share such a great platform with some incredibly talented producers who all bring their own flavours. I hope more than anything that this opportunity gives me a chance to show the UK and the world what I've been up to.”

Nu Format - @nuformatmusic

What would you say to other emerging artists who are considering being part of projects like Wired?

“I would say go for it. If you have something worth sharing, don’t hold on to it. WIRED is an opportunity to represent the scene alongside emerging talent and if you have something original to cut through the compilation, you can get traction from the right people”

NATIVE - @nativeproduction1

What makes you want to continue releasing with Transistor?

"Transistor is a proper big-batty label, one that you can be sure will drop nothing but the finest of heat. This is thanks to their incredible team, but namely, big poppa Emmex. This guy makes every release with TRN totally effortless and idiot proof! He is an extremely skilled mastering engineer, and an all-round good spud. Lol. For a label to succeed, it needs commitment, good communication with its artists, and above all, good taste. Transistor comes correct."

Expect "A Chat W/" these artists soon, with a full Q&A asking questions about their future, their favourite track on the VA & more.

How Can You Be A Part Of It?

We aim to release a project on this scale once or twice a year, so we want to give as many people who submit the chance to be a part of it.

Remember, as this is for major platforms like Spotify, Beatport, etc., we need all submissions to be 100% ORIGINAL.

We are looking for anything that resembles UKG, UK Funky, Breaks, Jungle 140 & Experimental.

To better your odds, here are some tips from us when it comes to demos:

  • How to send us a demo
    • Sent to our email: transistor.submissions@gmail.com
    • Keep it brief
    • Introduce yourself
    • Tell us the name & genre of the track(s).
    • Talk about the inspirations/influences for the track(s).
    • Tell us WHY our label/WIRED is a good home for your track(s).
    • Provide a private SoundCloud Link & group multiple tracks into a playlist

  • What to expect after you’ve sent the demo
    • Due to the number of demos received, we cannot promise to respond to everyone, so please don’t let that discourage you from sending more demos.
    • If we like your track, we will talk you through any mix notes & adjustments needed.
